Originally opened in 1926, the historic Rialto Square Theatre began as a vaudeville movie theater, constructed in an European architectural style with beautiful interior decoration and ornamentation running from floor to ceiling. Entertainers ranging from stand-up comedians to theater troupes to orchestras perform on the stage, surrounded by opulent metal detailing and wonderfully crafted plaster friezes. Part of downtown Joliet, the theater is near the historic Jacob Henry Mansion.
